NASCAR Herbie and a New Beetle will share top billing in the movie “Herbie Fully Loaded”, which will open June 24th. It’s an update of the Disney “Love Bug” movies of the 1960s and 1970s, featuring “Herbie”, a Volkswagen Beetle race car.

The movie will mark the 50th anniversaries of both Volkswagen of America and Disney, and nearly 40 years since the first Love Bug movie was released in 1966.

“Herbie Fully Loaded” will feature a central racing theme, moving from road rally to a NASCAR track. A number of Beetles were used for the high-speed sequences, most of which were shot at California Speedway. Lindsay Lohan, Matt Dillon and Michael Keaton will appear alongside their four-wheeled co-stars.
