Lexus reveals 2007 GS 450h Hybrid
New York, New York – Lexus revealed a hybrid version of its new, third-generation GS sport sedan. The 2007 GS 450h is the world’s first gasoline/electric hybrid luxury sedan and the first full hybrid vehicle with a front engine and rear-wheel drive.
The GS 450h is powered by a completely new Lexus Hybrid powertrain. The system combines a 3.5-litre V6 gasoline engine with a high-torque electric-drive motor-generator, for a combined output of over 300 horsepower, along with 0-60 mph acceleration in under six seconds.
“The new Lexus GS 450h does what, until recently, was thought to be impossible, seamlessly combining exhilarating sport sedan performance with modest fuel consumption and significantly reduced emissions,” said Stuart Payne, Director responsible for Lexus in Canada. “With the dramatic new look, and the chance to enjoy sporty power without sacrificing environmental responsibility, we believe this hybrid sedan will attract a very loyal and enthusiastic following.”
The new 2007 Lexus GS 450h will be available in Canada in early 2006, with pricing announced closer to the on-sale date.
