New York, New York – Chevrolet has introduced SS (Super Sport) versions of its popular Malibu and Malibu Maxx sedans, and its Trailblazer for 2006.

The four-door Malibu and its five-door Maxx hatchback sibling will both feature GM’s new 240 hp 3900 V6 with variable valve timing, mated to the Hydra-Matic 4T65-E four-speed transmission with manual shift mode and adaptive control. Chevrolet says the transmission is tested and challenged each season in winning NHRA drag racing vehicles.

Along with the extra horsepower, both versions of the Malibu will wear 18-inch flangeless wheels, the largest in their segment. They will also feature sport-tuned suspension and SS-specific exterior and interior appointments.

The Trailblazer SS is the first SUV to wear the SS badge, matching performance with the functionality of a utility vehicle. Power comes from an LS2 6.0-litre V8 that will take the vehicle from zero to 100 km/hr in less than six seconds.
