New VW Golf and Touran win more awards

Wolfsburg, Germany – Just one week after being awarded the “Goldenes Lenkrad” by the national newspaper “Bild am Sonntag”, the VW Golf and Touran were awarded the “Auto Trophy 2003” in their respective classes.

The “Auto Trophy” is awarded annually by the car magazine “Auto Zeitung”. Over 80,000 readers of “Auto Zeitung” and “TV Movie”, were asked to select the best of the best. A number of Volkswagen models were awarded top places. The new Golf was awarded first place in the compact class, narrowly beating the Audi A3. In the MPV category, the Touran came in first, ahead of the Volkswagen Multivan. In the small car segment, the Polo was awarded the silver medal, and the Audi A2 won third place. In the sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment, the Touareg won third place. In the technical innovation section, the Volkswagen direct shift gearbox was awarded third place.
