Vancouver, British Columbia – A new half-hour automotive television program will air starting April 2 in English, Punjabi and Hindi. The producers said it is the world’s first-ever trilingual automotive review show.
The show, Shifting Gears, will begin its inaugural twelve-week season on Shaw Cable Channel 119 on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., and on Sundays at 11:30 p.m., beginning April 2, 2009. The show is produced in British Columbia and features Veeno Dewan, Poonam Sandhu and Vivek Sharma.
Executive producer and host Veeno Dewan is originally from the U.K., where he spent ten years in the BBC and worked for two years on the world-renowned show BBC Top Gear as a writer and producer/director. He also produced, wrote and directed the Canadian Rally Series for CTV, and directed the Canadian automotive show Drivers Seat from 2000 to 2002, and in 2006.
Vancouver-based auto reviewer and journalist Poonam Sandhu is a well-known television personality in the Vancouver South Asian community, and she writes for local Vancouver ethnic newspapers. Vivek Sharma was a noted automotive and motorsport photojournalist in his native India before moving permanently to Canada, and is a regular contributor to U.K. magazines Total Off Road and Planet 4×4; he will also report on off-road vehicles, motorbikes and special feature reports on motorsports events for the show.
