Toronto, Ontario – Toyota Canada has unveiled its all-new 2008 Highlander Hybrid, with a starting price $2,025 under the previous-generation model of 2007. As a result of its increased fuel efficiency, the federal government has also increased the ecoAUTO rebate by $500 to $1,500 for the 2008 Highlander, in addition to any applicable provincial rebates.
“As with the 2008 Toyota Highlander we introduced earlier this year, the newly redesigned Highlander Hybrid features more forceful styling and a more flexible interior, while retaining many of the qualities that our existing Highlander owners love,” said Tony Wearing, Managing Director of Toyota Canada Inc. “To this, we add the qualities that only Toyota’s state of the art Hybrid Synergy Drive can deliver, including smooth, confident acceleration, high torque at any speed, and remarkable fuel efficiency and emissions performance.”
Available as the Highlander Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid Limited, the new SUV uses a 3.3-litre V6 engine coupled to front and rear high-output electric motors that work together to produce up to 270 hp and up to 212 lb-ft of torque, along with an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission (CVT) and upgraded front and rear suspension. The Highlander Hybrid starts at $42,825, the Limited at $55,975.
