New “ridematching” program helps federal employees carpool

Ottawa, Ontario – The Minister of Transport and the Mayor of Ottawa have launched that city’s new ridematching system, which allows federal employees working in Ottawa and Gatineau to find potential carpooling matches. The Government of Canada has provided $25,000 toward the Internet-based system.

The Internet software is available to all federal employees in the two cities, and has greater potential for matching rides than with previous systems. It allows employees to customize their requests in a number of ways, including by department, workplace or city area.
