Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has released its latest recalls, which may affect some Kia, Honda, Mazda, Ford, Mini and Toyota vehicles, some Britax child seats, and some Toyo tires.

2006-2008 Kia Magentis
2007-2008 Kia Rondo
Vehicles affected: 15,151
On certain vehicles, the clockspring assembly for the driver’s airbag may become damaged and fail. As a result the airbag may not function as intended, and the instrument panel warning lamp would illuminate. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the airbag clockspring assembly.

2011-2012 Honda Ridgeline
Vehicles affected: 37
Certain vehicles may have been inadvertently equipped with a full-size spare tire instead of a space-saver tire, and the information contained in the Tire and Loading Information label may not correspond to the tire provided. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, exchange the spare tire to match the information label.

2009-2010 Toyo Extensa A/S P225/60R16
Units affected: 1,884
Certain tires may have been manufactured with a kink at the bead area. In some cases, the kink may lead to a crack, which could result in tire failure. Retailers will replace the affected tires.

2001-2002 Mazda Tribute
Vehicles affected: 4,921
Certain vehicles may have been originally equipped with a brake master cylinder reservoir cap that could leak. If it does, the fluid could come in contact with the ABS module wiring harness connector, which could corrode it and possibly start a fire. These vehicles were previously involved in campaign 2007119 to address potentially missing or misplaced seals in the wiring harness connector to the ABS module electronic control unit. Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder reservoir cap and modify the ABS electrical system. Owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors until it is repaired.

On certain child seats, the rivet used to secure the harness adjuster (also known as the A-Loc) to the seat shell may have been incorrectly installed and could fail. If the adjuster detaches from the seat shell, the harness system would no longer be able to properly restrain the child. Consumers are advised to call Britax Child Safety toll-free at 1-888-427-4829 to request a repair kit.

2012 Ford Expedition
2012 Lincoln Navigator
Vehicles affected: 9
On certain vehicles, the second-row right-hand seat may have been manufactured incorrectly, and the headrest could fail during a rear-end vehicle crash. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the seat back frame.

2002-2005 Mini Cooper
2005 Mini Cooper Convertible

On certain vehicles, the electro-hydraulic power steering pump could fail temporarily or permanently, due to problems with the electronics that control the function of the pump, failure of the pump cooling fan, or loss of power to the pump. If it fails, the power-assist steering would revert to manual steering mode. The electro-hydraulic power steering pump and the pump cooling fan will be subject to a special extended warranty coverage of 12 years or 200,000 km from the vehicle’s first in-service date.

On certain vehicles, the side curtain airbag inflators may have been incorrectly manufactured. As a result, one or both airbags may not deploy as intended. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace one or both side curtain airbag assemblies.
