“The new SLK embodies the role of the trendsetter like no other car,” said Dr. Dieter Zetsche, head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. “I am convinced that with its passionate design, its high-quality interior and its modesty at the fuel station, it will continue to provide an enormous amount of fun on the road in the future, too, consolidating its status as a cult roadster.”
In 1996, the first-generation SLK featured a retractable hardtop, while the second generation debuted the Airscarf, providing warm air on the occupants’ necks and shoulders for cooler-weather motoring. The third generation presents the premiere of the panoramic retractable hardtop with Magic Sky Control, which switches to light or dark transparency at the touch of a button.
The 2012 SLK includes new-generation four- and six-cylinder engines with direct injection, Attention Assist technology, a new 5.8-inch colour display with Bluetooth audio streaming, head airbags in the doors, full LED taillights, and an optimized seven-speed automatic transmission.
