New MADD Canada “Friday Night” tour debuts in Ontario

Toronto, Ontario – “Friday Night”, a new multi-media assembly show presented by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada and sponsored by General Motors, kicked off a ten-month cross-country tour with simultaneous showings at high schools in Lindsay and St. Catharines, in Ontario. The show delivers its drug and alcohol awareness message to 600,000 high school students annually.

“It is an understatement to say that we need to do something about Canadian youth that are involved in impaired driving crashes,” says Margaret Miller, MADD Canada National President. “Road crashes are the number-one cause of youth fatalities in Canada – one in eight people who die on Canada’s roads are under the age of 25. It is a disturbing fact that two out of five teens who are killed on the road have been drinking.”

The multi-media assembly programs feature stories of young people, celebrity interviews, clips from a motion picture, and a contemporary soundtrack, viewed on three giant screens. For more information, visit
