Vancouver, British Columbia – The Vintage Racing Club of B.C. has announced new dates and a name change to its annual marquee race weekend. The British Columbia Historic Motor Races will be held on July 16, 17 and 18, 2010.
“Incorporating British Columbia in the name reflects the true scope of our event, which attracts drivers from all over Western Canada and the United States,” said club president Jim Latham. “We want it to be recognized as a destination motor sport event with a distinctive British Columbia experience.”
The races were first staged in 1976 at the Westwood track in Coquitlam, and are presently held at the River’s Edge Road Course at the Mission Raceway Park east of Vancouver. The largest vintage racing event in Western Canada and one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest, the races drew more than 130 vintage and historic racing cars and over 3,000 spectators in 2009.
