New Corolla and Matrix roll off the assembly line today in Cambridge, Ontario

The redesigned 2003 Toyota Corolla sedan and the all-new 2003 Toyota Matrix ‘crossover’ vehicle start rolling off the assembly line today at Toyota’s assembly plant in Cambridge, Ontario. The first Corolla will roll off the line at 3:30 pm today followed shortly by the Matrix.

Both cars use a similar platform, suspension, engines, and transmissions, but have unique exterior and interior styling. The Matrix will be built exclusively in Cambridge, but new Corollas will also be built at a joint Toyota/GM plant in Fremont, California. Both cars will go on sale in North America in early February.
