Pebble Beach, California – Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. has announced plans to unveil its new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport on the awards ramp of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 16. The following day, chassis 001 of the new 2009 production model will be sold at auction to benefit the Pebble Beach Company Foundation, which supports educational programs for youth in Monterey County.
“We’re pleased to be able to partner with Bugatti in this manner, not only introducing the world to an elegant new high-performance car, but also raising money for a worthy cause,” said Concours chairman Sandra Kasky Button.
The Grand Sport, which comes with a removable roof, is set to be the world’s fastest roadster, with an 8.0-litre 16-cylinder engine generating 1,001 horsepower, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. It is capable of zero to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and attaining a top speed of 405 km/h.
The winning bidder of the chassis will have the opportunity to specify the car when it is built in Germany. Proceeds in excess of the car’s MSRP will go directly to the charity foundation.
