Whitby, Ontario – BMW Canada has announced that its second-generation X5 model will go on sale in Canada in late 2006. The new X5 is 188 mm longer and will be available with third-row seating.
The new X5 will feature two more powerful engines: a 350-hp 4.8-litre V8 and a 260-hp, 3.0-litre inline six. In addition, it will have a more torsionally rigid body shell, a unique double wishbone front axle, a lower centre of gravity, and enhanced xDrive all-wheel drive.
It will also feature Active Steering, Adaptive Drive with anti-roll stabilization and active dampers, and standard run-flat tires. The company will announce pricing closer to launch.
