New BMW 6 Series Coupe to be unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show in September

Munich, Germany – BMW has released photos of the new 6 Series Coupe which will be introduced to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The on-sale date in Canada is planned for early 2004 and the price, not yet finalized, will be close to the BMW 7 Series sedan.
BMW also announced that there will be a 2+2 convertible version of the coupe.
The 645 Ci’s 4.4 litre V8 engine develops a maximum output of 325 horsepower and torque of 330 lft/lb at 3600 rpm. 0 to 100 km/h is reported to be just 5.6 seconds. The 645 Ci will offer three different six-speed transmissions: a manual six-speed gearbox, six-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic, or a Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) featuring both a gearshift lever and shift paddles on the steering wheel.
The 645 Ci uses a combination of aluminum, steel and synthetic materials throughout the body. The front section of the car is made of aluminum, the rear lid is made of plastic, the hood and door are made of aluminium, and the front side panels are made of thermoplastic. The overall weight of the car is a relatively light 1600 kg (3527 lb.).
