New Beetle Cabriolet and Touareg win several reader’s awards

Wolfsburg, Germany – The VW Touareg and the New Beetle Cabriolet were winners of recent public opinion polls conducted by automotive publications. More than 70,000 users of the “AutoScout24” Internet website chose Volkswagen’s off-road model and the new Volkswagen Cabriolet as the 2003 Net@uto champions. 90 cars altogether were listed for this online poll. The Touareg won the “Offroad and SUV” category, the New Beetle convinced the most web surfers in the category for “Convertibles, sports cars and coupes”.

15,000 readers of the magazine “Auto Bild Alles Allrad”, a publication from the same source as “Auto Bild”, also chose the Touareg, in this case as their “All-wheel Drive Car of the Year”. This Volkswagen model convinced voters in the category “Best Off-road and SUV” with its equally good on- and off-road performance.

The New Beetle Cabriolet was also chosen by readers of the magazines “Guter Rat” and “Superillu” as “Commonsense Car of 2003”. One of the reasons for voters choosing this highly emotive model was the very high standard of safety it offers, with standard equipment including rollover protection system and ESP.

All four awards were presented at the start of the “Auto Mobil International” exhibition in Leipzig.
