Neck-Pro crash-responsive headrests standard in four Mercedes model series

Stuttgart, Germany – Mercedes-Benz has announced that its new Neck-Pro crash-responsive head restraints are part of standard equipment in the C-Class, CKL-Class, CLS-Class and E-Class.

The restraints are linked to an electronic control unit. If the system detects a rear-end collision of a predefined degree of severity, it releases pre-tensioned springs inside the head restraints, causing them to move forward by 40 mm and upward by up to 30 mm in a split second. This provides head support for front occupants at an early stage.

Following their deployment, the head restraints can be released using a special tool provided with the car and pushed back manually to their original positions.
