Mustang drives performance parts to new record

Dearborn, Michigan – The Ford Racing Performance Group has recorded record sales for 2005 and is on track for a record 2006, thanks mostly to the popularity of the new Mustang. Last year, sales increased more than 10 per cent, while 2006 year-to-date figures are up another 15 per cent.

“In the 25-year history of the Ford Racing Performance Group, we have never seen sales like this,” says program manager Jamie Allison. “Almost from day one, the new Mustang has been a boon to our business.” Estimates are that past and present “pony cars” account for 70 to 80 per cent of Ford’s performance parts business.

Growth is due to the car’s appeal and to the launch of Mustang Performance Packs, which bundle components together as packages. For more information, visit
