Motorists encouraged to nominate Ontario’s worst municipal roads
Toronto, Ontario – The Municipal Roads Coalition (MRC) has announced that it will launch its fourth annual Worst Municipal Roads Campaign, asking motorists to nominate roads for the honour.
Starting September 6, motorists and bus passengers can log into www.worstroads.ca and vote for the worst roads; they can also send postcards to mayors and MPPs, telling them they want local roads fixed.
Since its launch in 2003, MRC has named 46 different roads on its annual top 20 list; this year, the coalition contacted all of the relevant municipalities regarding progress. A reported 65 per cent of the roads have undergone repairs or are currently under construction, and 21 per cent are scheduled for construction this year, or are going through the redesign or environmental assessment process.
