Stockholm, Sweden – Volvo Buses has announced that Montreal has ordered 410 city buses from its subsidiary Nova Bus. The order is worth approximately $400 million.
Deliveries of the buses will be made over three years, beginning in 2009 to STM, Montreal’s city transit corporation. The buses will replace Nova buses that have been in use since 1996, and is added to an earlier order that STM placed for articulated and regular 12-metre buses.
Over the next three years, Nova Bus will deliver a total of 214 buses in 2009, 427 in 2010, and 317 in 2011. The new buses feature a stainless steel structure, a particulate filter to reduce emissions, a front door access ramp for mobility-impaired passengers, and a safety camera system.
