Tokyo, Japan – Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has announced it will be showing the new Lancer Evolution at the Beijing International Motor Show. The high-performance sedan will be launched in the Chinese market this fall.
Also on display will be the Mitsubishi Concept-RA1 and Prototype-S sport hatchback concept, both of which are being unveiled in the Asia region for the first time, as well as the i MiEV electric vehicle, currently being developed with a view to introduction in markets outside Japan.
In February, the company designated China as one of its focus markets for the coming years, partly because of rapidly growing demands for automobiles in the country. Mitsubishi plans to introduce six new models into China over the next three years, including some built locally. The Evolution will be the first of these new models. Also sold in North America, Europe, Russia and Australia, the Evolution’s introduction into China means that the model will be on sale in all of the world’s major car markets.
