Toronto, Ontario – Mitsubishi has announced three new partnerships in Canada to further real-world testing of its all-electric i-MiEV passenger vehicle over the next three years.
Four European production model i-MiEVs will go into use in Toronto, Calgary and Burlington, Ontario in time to celebrate Canadian Environment Week, which runs June 5 to 11, 2011. The company plans to introduce the i-MiEV to the Canadian marketplace in the late fall of this year.
“This collaborative approach takes us one step closer to the arrival of the i-MiEV in Canada,” said Tomoki Yanagawa, Mitsubishi’s vice-president of sales/marketing and corporate planning. “Without the support from cities, governments and related industries, real-world testing and evaluation wouldn’t be possible. Taking a step in the right direction means we all work together for a brighter future.”
Mitsubishi is testing and evaluating the vehicles across Canada through strategic alliances with various partners, including Hydro Quebec, B.C. Hydro, Manitoba, Montreal, Vancouver, Saanich and the Town of Qualicum.
