Cypress, California – Mitsubishi Motors has announced it will debut the all-new four-door Lancer sports sedan at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. The Lancer will be built on Mitsubishi’s new global platform, which the company introduced with the launch of the second-generation Outlander.

Designed at Mitsubishi’s studios in Europe and Japan, the Lancer shares its styling cues with the 2005 Concept-X and Concept-Sportback show cars, with low stance, long hood, short deck, wide track, and “shark nose”. The Lancer will be launched progressively in world markets from Spring, 2007, starting with North America, and will encompass a full range from entry models to the Evolution, and to diesel models for Europe.

The Lancer’s global platform was co-developed with business partner DaimlerChrysler A.G.; models from that company, and from P.S.A. Peugeot Citro
