Toronto, Ontario – For the third consecutive year, the Mitsubishi City Chase Series Presented by BlackBerry has been named Canada’s Best Sporting Event. The honour, known as a Star Award, was presented at the 11th annual Canadian Event Industry Awards Star Awards Gala.
The Star Awards recognize outstanding achievements in Canadian special events; the 2007 finalists included the FIFA U-20 World Cup of Soccer, the Telus World Skins golf tournament and the Baycrest International ProAm Hockey Tournament.
“We are extremely pleased to have won this award,” said David Nash, Director of City Chase Inc. “To have won it once is an honour, to have won it three times in a row is absolutely fantastic. And this year is especially meaningful because the quality of the other nominees was so high. To have competed and succeeded against the likes of the FIFA U-20 World Cup says a lot about the quality of our people and our sponsors. It’s also a terrific way to kick off our new season, which launches on May 10th in Vancouver.”
The City Chase requires participants to exhibit teamwork, resourcefulness, determination and the ability to make decisions on the fly as they search for ChasePoints scattered in unknown locations throughout one of seven Canadian cities. Regional winners compete in the Canadian Championships for a chance to win a pair of 2009 Mitsubishi Lancers and the right to represent Team Canada at the World Championships.
City Chase Inc. is a Canadian creation, based in Toronto, Ontario, and in 2008 will execute events in Canada, Australia, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Singapore, Spain and the United States. For more information, visit.
