Cypress, California – Mitsubishi Motors North America is auctioning off the last Eclipse coupe, with proceeds to benefit the Japan Red Cross earthquake and tsunami relief fund.

The 2012 Eclipse Coupe SE is the last production Eclipse built at the company’s plant in Normal, Illinois. It will be sold to the highest bidder at the annual Mecum Auctions event in St. Charles, Illinois this Saturday.

Customized by Mitsubishi, it is the only 2012 Eclipse SE to use a 265-horsepower 3.8-litre V6 from the Eclipse GT, along with unique black paint, leather interior, 18-inch alloy wheels, premium stereo and xenon headlamps.

With production winding down on the current fourth-generation model, Mitsubishi has sold just under one million Eclipses since the model’s debut in 1989.
