Mini Canada introduces John Cooper Works Tuning Kit

Whitby, Ontario – Mini Canada has announced the availability of a John Cooper Works Tuning Kit for the new Mini Cooper S. The kit, designed specifically for the new-generation Cooper S with manual transmission, offers increased horsepower and torque, a more muscular exhaust note and distinct badging.

The kit increases the Cooper S 1.6-litre turbocharged engine’s output from 172 to 189 horsepower, and maximum torque from 177 lb-ft to 185 lb-ft. When compared to the previous-generation Mini equipped with the kit, the new generation shaves 1.3 seconds off the 80-to-120 km/h sixth-gear acceleration time.

The kit consists of a stainless-steel sport exhaust system, larger-aperture air box, enhanced electronic control unit programming, and chrome badges on the front grille and rear deck lid. When installed professionally by an authorized Mini dealer, the kit is covered by a two-year, unlimited-mileage Mini Parts and Accessory Warranty, or the balance of the car’s four-year, 80,000-km new car limited warranty, whichever is greater. The kit has an MSRP of $2,342.50, plus a recommended labour installation time of two hours.
