Sindelfingen, Germany – Mercedes-Benz designers will move beyond cars and style other products in the future, the company has announced. The newly-established “Mercedes-Benz Style” division will work not only on transport-related products, but also furniture, lifestyle products and industrial design.
“Our unique design expertise is appreciated throughout the world,” said Professor h.c. Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes-Benz. “We have therefore decided to establish the Mercedes-Benz specific styling outside the automotive field too, and so far we have met with a very positive response from a great number of manufacturers in a variety of sectors.”
Currently, the designers are working on a luxury yacht and the interior design of a helicopter. The helicopter was presented at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in Geneva on May 4.
The design division is headquartered in Sindelfingen, along with four international advanced design studios in Italy, Japan, China and the U.S.
