Toronto, Ontario – Mercedes-Benz has opened its new Logistics Centre & Training Academy (LCTA) in Mississauga, Ontario. The centre will stock all parts, accessories, “The Collection” items and technical literature in one location.
Located close to Pearson International Airport in the Greater Toronto Area, the 204,000-square-foot facility is part of a worldwide logistics structure that will support the coast-to-coast Canadian retail network and house approximately 90 per cent of the company’s overall parts supply. With the assistance of Kuehne and Nagel, the company’s partner for warehouse operations, the LCTA will ship over 550,000 lines annually to 60 different Mercedes-Benz dealerships and body shops. Extended hours will increase the cutoff times to 5:00 p.m. for shipments to Central and Eastern Canada, and 6:00 p.m. for Western Canada.
The centre also integrates a new training facility for sales, product and after-sales technical education. Last year, the company trained over 2,450 employees. The new space almost doubles the previous facility’s size, increasing capacity and adding a dedicated classroom for Sprinter technical training.
“Centralizing Mercedes-Benz Canada’s parts and accessories operations will allow numerous efficiencies for our company and dealer network,” said Marcus Breitschwerdt, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. “The sizable facility, a wide selection of parts available on a timely basis, and expanded hours guarantee that we can fulfill our retail network’s immediate needs. This forward-thinking additional investment also ensures that we are well positioned to address the increased volumes expected from continued growth.”
