Mercedes-Benz M-Class earns five-star crash rating

Stuttgart, Germany – The Mercedes-Benz M-Class has been awarded the maximum five-star rating for both frontal and side crashes in tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Mercedes says it is one of the first SUVs to receive the maximum award for both tests.

The NHTSA’s frontal test involves a crash at 56 km/h against a rigid wall, while the side test specifies an impact by a 1,368-kg deformable barrier against the side of the vehicle, level with the front seat occupants, at 62 km/h. The M-Class made its debut in the North American market six months ago
