Mercedes-Benz downtown festival returns to Montreal

Montreal, Quebec – Mercedes-Benz Canada is very pleased to announce that La Kermesse Mercedes-Benz, their annual Canadian Grand Prix week downtown festival will, for the second year, return to the streets of Montreal for three days and evenings from Thursday, June 12, 2003 to Saturday, June 14, 2003.

“Further to the tremendous feedback we received from last year’s events, we knew it was imperative for us to organize La Kermesse at Place Ville Marie again this year”, said JoAnne Caza, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Mercedes-Benz Canada. “As the proverbial Montreal downtown core, the courtyard at Place Ville Marie provides us with an ideal location to host this special three-day event and lends itself perfectly to feature a wide array of entertainment and exhibitions in a friendly atmosphere.”

La Kermesse Mercedes-Benz will feature interesting displays as well as midday and early evening entertainment (7-9pm) on all three days ranging from hip hop and break dance routines to rap and POI. Not only will visitors also have the opportunity to get up close to their favourite Mercedes-Benz vehicles, they will have the chance to see the impressive West McLaren Mercedes Formula One show car. And if they’re downtown around Rue Sainte Catherine and McGill College on Thursday, June 12th between 10 am and 2 pm, they can stop by to support the Starlight Children’s Foundation Go-Kart fundraiser where teams will compete to win the La Kermesse Challenge Cup. Media personalities, corporate teams and celebrities compete for the fastest laps as they raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. A tire changing competition will also be offered as part of the fundraising activities.

On both Friday and Saturday nights, La Kermesse will feature UOMO/BMG recording artist, Shawn Desman whose debut album has been certified GOLD. Performing his chart topping hits such as “Shook” and “Get Ready” and his current smash single, “Spread My Wings”, the energy at La Kermesse will undoubtedly be in the highest gear.

While the excitement will begin at ground level with Shawn, the vibrations will travel up 47 floors to Place Ville Marie’s famous Club 737 where the official La Kermesse Mercedes-Benz party will be held on Friday and Saturday night.
