Toronto, Ontario – Mercedes-Benz Canada yesterday officially opened its newest company-owned dealership in midtown Toronto, at 849 Eglinton Avenue East, the address of the company’s former Canadian head office.
Midtown is the company’s 17th retail location in Canada, and the first one to include a delivery and service centre for the SLR and the Maybach brand. Toronto Midtown is also home to the very first smart Centre in North America. Mercedes-Benz operates 16 other retail locations across Canada – four in Vancouver, two in Montreal, one in London and nine more in Toronto.
The 47,000 sq. ft. Mercedes-Benz Midtown retail facility combines with the company’s 140,000 sq. ft. Canadian wholesale administration and national training centre to form a complex on four acres of property extending north-south between Eglinton and Vanderhoof Avenues, just west of the Don Valley.
The dealership’s architecture adapts the Mercedes-Benz worldwide “Autohaus” concept and incorporates the latest design guidelines established by the German parent company. 20 ft glass curtain walls, a large overhang supported by steel columns, and a large portal entrance give the building its sleek and modern appearance, and the significant use of floor-to-ceiling glass provides an inviting ambience and is a perfect setting for the display of automobiles. The dealership also incorporates a customer lounge, customer work stations complete with telephone and data lines, and a retail parts and accessory display boutique.
