Toronto, Ontario – Mercedes-Benz Canada has announced that it will introduce three new diesel models for the 2007 model year, to coincide with the nationwide release of Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel: the E320 Bluetec, ML320 CDI and R320 CDI.

The E320’s 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel offers 400 lb-ft of torque, exceeding that of most eight-cylinder engines, with the fuel consumption of a four-cylinder. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, with a combined consumption of 6.7 L/100 km and a range of approximately 1,200 km before refueling. Its Bluetec engine’s emissions are substantially lower than those allowed by the current stringent BIN 8 standard, and approach the levels stipulated by the even more stringent BIN5 norm.

The diesel versions of the M-Class and R-Class are available immediately, and are the only luxury sport utility and touring vehicles available with a diesel engine. The seven-seater GL320 CDI will also be offered in a diesel version starting in early 2007.
