New York, New York – The McLaren MP4-12C is scheduled to come to Canada beginning in late summer, at a starting price of $247,500. The company says that the 12C, which will launch as a 2012, will be the only carbon-fibre-based vehicle in its market price segment.
“We are extremely proud to be able to offer the 12C at a price that has not been realized by a carbon-fibre-based vehicle before,” said Antony Sheriff, managing director of McLaren Automotive. “When we embarked on the challenge of creating a new sports car company, it was clear we needed a unique concept that offered clear advantages.”
The McLaren uses a 592-horsepower 3.8-litre engine, dry weight of less than 1,315 kilograms, and a “MonoCell” carbon fibre chassis.
McLaren Toronto, a member of Pfaff Automotive Partners, will manage sales and service for the Canadian market. The dealership, located at 33 Auto Park Circle in Woodbridge, Ontario, is scheduled to open in the summer of 2011.
The 12C will be the first in a range of high-performance McLaren sports cars. They will be sold and serviced through a network of 35 retailers worldwide, ten of them based in key North American markets.
