Spiders to blame for evaporation line constriction

Mazda seems to have an issue with certain 2010 to 2012 Mazda6 models thanks to some curious spiders finding themselves in the wrong place.

A particular species of spider, unnamed in the recall, can weave a web in the evaporative canister vent line which may cause a restriction in the line. This can cause excessive negative pressure in the gas tank leading to the possibility of a crack forming. And, as we all know, crack in gas tank + fuel + ignition = firey, firey death.

So, please, Mr. Spider, stick to water spouts. “The itsy bitsy spider goes up the evaporative canister vent line” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
