Hiroshima, Japan – Due to rapid changes in global market conditions, Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that it will further reduce its production by 100,000 units or more in Japan.

The company said that the actions are being taken to manage inventory levels and maintain an appropriate balance in production supply.

In addition, Mazda said that its Hiroshima plant will suspend operations on December 25 and 26, 2008, following an earlier announcement that its Hofu plant will be suspended for the same two days, and that night shift operations at both plants will be suspended in January 2009.

Mazda said it has not made a decision about operations after February 2009, but will match production levels to prevailing market conditions.
