Toronto, Ontario – The second annual Honda Indy Toronto Walk, Run ‘N Wheel-a-thon will be held on Thursday, July 15 in Toronto to raise money in support of spinal cure research. On the eve of the Honda Indy Toronto, participants will have a chance to run, walk or wheel to the finish line on the racetrack just hours before the IZOD IndyCar Series drivers start their engines.
The event is held by Shoot For A Cure and the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation, and includes a 5-kilometre run, and 2.8-kilometre walk or wheel. The pre-registration fee of $25 is waived if $150 is raised in support of the cause; the registration fee is $30 on the day of the event. The event raised $15,000 last year.
Participants can register online at Shoot For A Cure.
“The Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation is committed to finding a cure for the loss of generalized or localized muscle function in order to better the lives of the millions of people affected by the condition,” said Ida Cahill, president of the foundation. “These types of partnerships create the opportunity to combine resources and talent. Our association with Shoot For A Cure Moto-Sport is particularly special since racing fans will have the opportunity to actually run, walk and wheel in the tire tracks of their favourite drivers.”
A victory party will take place at the finish line immediately following the party, featuring a live performance by Toronto band EZ Street.
