Hopefully one of them will be based on the Mustang

Lincoln is in a tough place right now. While the MKC has turned out to be a solid competitor with its own powertrains to differentiate it from the Escape, there isn’t much else bringing people into Lincoln showrooms.

Ford is aiming to change that with their ‘Vision 2020’ plan that calls for 45-55 percent growth in volume before the end of the decade.

In order to achieve this new goal, Ford cannot just rely on the Blue Oval brand. Lincoln will be getting new versions of the MKX crossover and MKS large sedan in the near term. But, interestingly, Lincoln will also add two brand new models to the lineup.

Those new models are anyone’s guess at this point, though some speculate a small sedan (below the Fusion-based MKZ) will be in the cards along with an oft rumoured and wanted Mustang based rear-wheel drive model.

All we can do is cross our fingers and hope.
