Detroit auto show:
Lexus SC 430 convertible is $84,000
First shown as a concept car at last year’s Detroit Auto Show, the production version of the Lexus SC430 convertible introduced yesterday in Detroit will go on sale this Spring at a suggested retail price of $84,000.
“This is an extremely competitive car in every sense of the word, and that includes price,” said Larry Hutchinson, National Manager of the Lexus Division of Toyota Canada Inc. “The power, luxury and sheer driving pleasure are among the best in the world – and drivers get the confidence of total Lexus quality at no extra charge.”
The rear-wheel-drive SC 430 is propelled by a 4.3 litre, 32-valve aluminum alloy DOHC V8 engine that produces 300 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 325 ft-lb. of torque at 3,400 rpm.
Luxury abounds in the wood and leather-appointed interior – there are no options. The long list of standard features includes a 240 watt AM/FM Cassette sound system with in dash 6-CD changer, designed especially for the SC 430 by the high-end audio specialists at Mark Levinson.
