Toronto, Ontario – Lexus has announced the launch of an all-new, second-generation GX 460 luxury utility for 2010 that is more advanced, more powerful, more efficient and quieter than the GX 470 model it replaces. The new model also includes ten standard airbags and an available Pre-Collision System for enhanced safety.
Positioned between the brand’s RX crossover models and the LX 570 premium luxury utility vehicle, the 2010 GX 460 combines “right-sized” midsize packaging with standard seven-passenger configuration and body-on-frame construction. It also includes standard full-time four-wheel drive and the company’s advanced Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System for on-road ride and handling, with true off-road capability.
The GX 460 uses an all-new 4.6-litre V8 that is 14 per cent more powerful and 11 per cent more efficient than the 4.7-litre V8 it replaces, producing 301 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift. Combined city/highway fuel consumption improves to an estimated 12.1 L/100 km, versus 13.6 in the 2009 GX 470.
The new model will go on sale at Lexus dealerships across Canada in early 2010.
