Lexus announces GX 470 luxury SUV will be sold in Canada
Toronto, Ontario – Lexus announced that it will offer a third luxury sport utility vehicle in Canada – the V8-powered GX 470 which has been available in the U.S. since last year.
Positioned in size and price midway between the RX 330 and the LX 470, the GX 470 is expected in Canadian Lexus dealerships in mid-February, 2004.
“Customers have asked us for a vehicle with more rugged utility than the RX 330 provides without stepping all the way up to an LX 470,” said Larry Hutchinson, National Manager of Lexus in Canada.
The GX 470 is powered by a 4.7-litre V8 that produces 235 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 320 lb/ft of torque at 3,400 rpm and has a 2,948 kg (6,500 lb.) towing capacity. The eight-seat GX 470 features a full-time four-wheel drive system, body-on-frame construction, and Adaptive Variable Suspension.
Rear Height Control allows drivers to choose the right ride height for the situation, providing extra clearance over challenging terrain, and lowering the vehicle for easy entry and exit.
Consumers will be able to preview the new GX 470 at Canadian auto shows such as Le Salon International de l’Auto de Montréal (January 9 – 18) and at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto (February 13 – 22).
