Laurance Yap wins design/layout award
Belleville, Ontario – Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, Inc. (MMSCAN) honoured Laurance Yap, Rob Bostelaar and Clare Dear with the inaugural Mitsubishi Motors Best Design/Layout Award.
Presented at the Automobile Journalist Association of Canada’s annual awards banquet, the category recognizes reporters who apply creative design and layout techniques to enhance the visual appeal of their work and capture reader’s attention.
Laurance Yap won top honours for designing an online car magazine. The publication is a stylish chronicle of Canadian automotive coverage. Of his submission, one of the judges noted “it just made me want to read more.”
The first runner-up prize was awarded to Robert Bostelaar of the Ottawa Citizen. The design was “engaging and clean” and drew the judge into the story.
Second runner-up was awarded to Clare Dear of the London Free Press. The judges described the design and layout as “crisp and vibrant”.
“Canadian automotive coverage is among the best in North America and we are pleased to host an award that acknowledges the design and layout talent used to draw reader’s to industry and product stories,” said Randy Sears, president and chief executive officer, MMSCAN.
Submissions were accepted for: feature stories, product reviews, show guides, trades, magazines, and supplements. Judged by third-party experts, the panel consisted of members of the design and marketing community.
