Langley Speedway to be listed in heritage register

Langley, British Columbia – British Columbia’s Langley Speedway will be listed on the Township of Langley’s Heritage Register, says the Langley Speedway Historical Society (LSHS). The Greater Vancouver Regional District Board of Directors gave approval for the listing at the request of the LSHS.

While the listing falls short of the historical designation the LSHS is seeking, it is considered an important first step to saving the former NASCAR track. The 3/8-mile paved oval track is now part of Campbell Valley Regional Park, and the LSHS wants to restore it, with the possibility of using it as a site for car shows or other events. An on-line petition in support of heritage designation is available at www.petitionspot.com/petitions/langleyspeedway.
