St. John’s, Newfoundland – Kia Canada has enteredTarga Newfoundland with a 2010 Forte Koup that will carry the banner for Team Wishful Thinking as part of a partnership to raise $100,000 for the Children’s Wish Foundation.
The Koup will be driven by Mark Kostick, the general manger of Sherwood Kia in Edmonton, and Adam Hill of Vancouver, CEO of Omni Corporation, which provides Kia Canada’s extended warranties.
“Kia Canada is very excited to utilize the 2010 Targa Newfoundland as its official debut for motorsports in Canada,” said Jack Sulymka, public relations manager of Kia Canada. “You couldn’t ask for a better venue for our return and we expect the Koup to turn a few heads.”
Kia dealers across Canada have joined the fundraising by committing a portion of the proceeds of each vehicle sold between August 16 and September 18, 2010.
The Koup was donated by Kia Canada for the rally; it was modified by Sherwood Kia to make it rally-ready for the class. After competing in Targa, it will tour most of the Canadian auto shows in the Kia display, and then be auctioned off in spring of 2011, with all proceeds donated to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
Kia was represented by a Rio in the inaugural Targa Newfoundland in 2002 and won class honours several times over the next three years.
