New York, New York – Kia has unveiled its updated 2012 Soul at the New York International Auto Show, with a fresh look, more power and improved fuel efficiency.

“The iconic vehicle that began our design-led transformation in early 2009 has been further refined to include the latest technological advancements, while maintaining its cool factor of the Soul,” said Robert Staffieri, director of marketing for Kia Canada. “Gasoline direct injection (GDI) technology adds even better fuel efficiency and power to this multiple-award-winning vehicle.”

The 2012 Soul uses a new 1.6-litre GDI engine, producing 135 horsepower and mated to a six-speed manual transmission, or a new 160-horsepower 2.0-litre four-cylinder with six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Styling updates include projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, redesigned hood, new bumpers, rear LED light clusters and two new paint shades. New for 2012 is an available Infinity premium audio system and UVO powered by Microsoft, an in-car hands-free communication and infotainment system. An available premium package includes heated leather seats, automatic climate control, navigation system and push-button start.
