Kia named title sponsor of X Games Asia
Seoul, South Korea – Kia Motors has announced that it has secured a three-year deal to become the title sponsor of the X Games Asia. The event, which will be renamed the Kia X Games Asia 2007, will take place in Shanghai, China from May 3 to 5, and will involve 200 top athletes from the U.S., Brazil, Japan and other Asia-Pacific countries competing in aggressive inline skating, skateboarding, BMX freestyle, sport climbing and motocross.
The 2007 edition will be the ninth competition since 1998 and is promoted and organized in Asia by ESPN International. The competition is due to take place annually in China through 2009.
Last year, Kia estimated that ongoing media exposure from the games was worth around US$12 million to the company through television broadcasts, commercials and press materials. For more information on the games, visit KiaXGamesAsia.com.
