Kia Motors supports round-the-world Trans-Siberian expedition

Seoul, South Korea – Kia Motors has announced that Swedish driver and adventurer Christer Gerlach will shortly begin a journey where he will drive solo around the world in a Kia Sorento. His trip will complete the first-ever crossing of Siberia in a car.

Gerlach will leave Sweden during August and drive across Europe, Russia and the largely unmapped terrain of Siberia. After driving through Asia and stopping over in Korea, he will travel to the United States and follow Route 66 to New York, before returning to Europe.

Yong-Hwan Kim, Senior Executive Vice-President and COO of Kia Motors Corporation, travelled to Sweden to personally hand over the keys to the vehicle.

Gerlach is already listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the first person to circumnavigate the globe by car. No one has done it by travelling through Siberia as part of the journey. This will also be the first solo around-the-world expedition using one stock vehicle. The Sorento will have no modifications and will run on its factory-installed tires.
