Mississauga, Ontario – Kia Canada has announced the new 2010 Forte Koup, a two-door version of the all-new Forte sedan, which will go on sale with a starting price of $18,495.

“The Forte Koup personifies the next step in the evolution of Kia’s design language,” said Maria Soklis, vice-president and COO of Kia Canada. “It embodies raw athleticism and sporty sophistication in its distinctive styling and fulfills Kia’s goal of becoming a design-led brand. When you combine this level of styling with the value Kia is renowned for, this vehicle is sure to have tremendous appeal.”

Based on the design styling of Kia’s KOUP concept vehicle, the Forte Koup is available as the EX, with 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine for $18,495, and as the SX, with 2.4-litre four-cylinder at $21,495. The Koup is slightly shorter in length and height than the Forte sedan, but still has comfortable seating for up to five passengers, and its lower stance provides better aerodynamics.

The 2.0-litre engine is rated at 8.3 L/100 km in the city and 5.8 on the highway with a five-speed manual transmission, and 8.1/5.8 with an optional four-speed automatic. The 2.4-litre is rated at 9.2/6.2 with a six-speed manual, and 9.0/6.3 with the optional five-speed automatic.

Standard features on both models include air conditioning, heated mirrors, power windows, power locks with keyless entry, cruise control, heated front seats, six airbags, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, and electronic stability control.
