Richmond Hill, Ontario – Sales of new passenger cars and light trucks were down 6.4 per cent in July 2009, compared with July 2008, but Ford’s sales rose by 47.6 per cent, topping all manufacturers for the second consecutive month, according figures released by industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers.

Other manufacturers with sales up by more than 30 per cent included Audi, Hyundai, Porsche and Volvo.

Passenger cars were down by 14.4 per cent, while light truck sales rose by 4.4 per cent. A total of 139,901 vehicles were sold in July 2009, compared with 149,515 during July 2008.
