Jeep to help teach the American national anthem

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Jeep has signed on as the National Presenting Sponsor of a new initiative, launching today in Washington, D.C., to teach Americans the words and significance of “The Star-Spangled Banner”.

The program, named “The National Anthem Project: Restoring America’s Voice” is a three-year national education initiative created after a poll indicated that two out of three Americans don’t know the words to the song. First Lady Laura Bush serves as Honourary Chairperson.

“Few brands symbolize freedom and patriotism like the Jeep brand, and we are excited about the opportunity to be part of the National Anthem Project,” said Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO of the Chrysler Group.

The project, which will target Americans from school-age children to adults, will commence with live performances on the U.S. Capitol lawn by the Oak Ridge Boys, the U.S. Marine Band and hundreds of children. As National Presenting Sponsor, the Jeep brand will be featured over the next three years in the multi-faceted National Anthem Project, including education outreach in schools, special performances and alliances with professional sporting events, and an extensive mobile marketing tour.
