Woodcliff, New Jersey – J.D. “Dave” Power III, founder of J.D. Power and Associates, has become the latest driver to receive the keys to a BMW Hydrogen 7. The Hydrogen 7 Pioneer Program gives industry leaders and prominent figures the use of the vehicle for three weeks as part of a long-term test of the hydrogen system.

“Only a very few manufacturers have made substantial investments in hydrogen-fuelled internal combustion engines, including BMW,” Power said. “Hydrogen technology is moving along and appears to be a viable alternative to petroleum-fuelled internal combustion engines, and one of the answers to the future of emission-free vehicles.”
A recent report from J.D. Power and Associates found that consumer consideration for purchasing clean energy vehicles, which were newly introduced to the market in 2007, is at 73 per cent. In 2006, only 69 per cent of shoppers considered purchasing them.
While not for sale, the Hydrogen 7 is a production model vehicle that has successfully completed the entire product development process. When running in hydrogen mode, the vehicle essentially emits nothing but water vapour.
